For the first time, Out-Er is offering and inside look at the philosophical, artistic, and technical routes they live by, in a workshop on the 26th of October in Lecce, South of Italy, in an old manor farm. Indeed, in honor to Out-Er’s 12th release Holzwege EP, produced by Simone Gatto and remixed by Legowelt, aficionados and music operators are invited to attend the theoretical and practical lessons driven by the Out-ER team. The aim is to transmit our own methods (artistic, technical, management, promotional) in the independent record label market.

First part w/ Simone Gatto
Music, communication and empathy
– The relationship between sounds and sensations
– The empathic process which links performances and audience
– Notes and chords stimulating specific neural areas
– The artistic performance seen by Resseguier
– Practical exercises: listening of a live performance, fill out of a questionnaire based on an italian experiment developed by university researchers

The artist will explain how he used the tools to produce music and which of them are more functional in relation to the concepts he expresses. Prophet 12, Juno 60, Access Virus Ti naming fews. Simone will also get across the collaboration with the dutch producer Danny Wolfers, aka Legowelt, who actually owns and uses over twenty synthesizers starting from early ’90.

Mixing
Technical and theoretical approach to a mixdown; mix session of Holzwege EP:
– Workflow for a mixing session (where start to mix, which elements to highlight and which not to, coherence between sounds and music genre, artist’ background)
– Optimization of timbre of the entire track and its fine-tuning for functionality, background of the record label, artist and market trends
– Trick and tips to turn up the final product as its best
Mixing tools
ProoTools is the software used to edit and mix Holzwege EP. These sessions will be deepened in the following topics:
– Mix session preparation
– Auditory coherence (volumes, equalization, compression, effects)
– Alteration of the auditory coherence during the mixing
– Trick and tips
– Practical exercises using Ableton Live
POST WORKSHOP VINYL PERFORMANCES
Believe it or not, there’s a recreational part after the lessons. From 7 pm to 1 am, all the Out-ER artists will perform in a vinyl dj session while the participants can enjoy some drink and finger food. The main guest is Orlando Voorn, one of the first electronic music composer known for many collaborations with old school producers (Blake Baxter, Juan Atkins, Dj Hell to name few) and for connecting Detroit and Europe. Also the rest of the crew will play; Limo, also belonging to Fachwerk Records family, Luciano Esse, Alfredo Caforio, Buck, Santorini, Simone Gatto, Mirror 1 and Summed. Each one has released on the record label. Every artist will bring his best ten record ever, playing in rotation and interacting with participants through delicious gems on vinyls, collected from 90’s up to now.
