Simone Gatto, with his second release on Out-ER‚ ‘Holzwege EP‘ confirms his artistic maturity and his serene approach to music and life, even if on one’s way the paths can get broken. Due to a perfect use and combination of Prophet 12, Arturia MiniBrute, Virus and X-Base drum machine, the sounds transmit deep and pondering thoughts the artist has experienced, peaceful in some cases, troubling in others.
Each track represents a motion against the difficulties of life: happy and discouraging moments happen and alternate, our actions cause consequences, and everything has to be faced somehow. The synths are melodious, timid and gloomy at the same time, indicating that happenings arrive, interchange and pass over. The patterns are Detroit inspired and the beats always soft and gentle, never impetuous, while ambient and pads go with the groovy wave created by kicks, hi hats and basses. A journey that has to be lived, any development it brings. Legowelt’s reinterpretation completes the release number twelve magnificently.
